Torsilastic adjustment rod rework & Drive Wheel Stabilizer Rod
This post is a 2 for one post, as they should be short, thank God, and I want to go on to others after. The first part is the drive wheel torsilastic adjustment rod housing being taken apart using a torch to heat up and the shafts holding these together driven out using my damaged front end Kingpin used as a drift driver. The reason for taking this apart is the rotating mechanism and shaft was all rust frozen and adjustment was not possible. I did take everything apart on both ends and on both torsilastic tubes and reworked everything so it rotated easily and I was again able to grease the moving joints of this adjustment fixture. A finished picture will be posted tomorrow.
The second part to this post is my drive wheel adjustment stabilizer rod had no way to be adjusted. Someone welded the nuts etc. to the threaded rod and this was useless in adjusting. I disassembled everything the best I could by hand and machined everything so a new thread rod was fitted to the rod housing and welded to the thread rod. The clevis end of the rod also had to be machined to be useful and look decent as well, Now this rod is as good and useful as brand new. Boy this bus was just abused over and over. Thank God also I had the use of a machine shop when needed, the value of this service is un-measurable.
Enjoy the photos.
