“RUSTLESS MONEY PIT”, 1973 05 EAGLE, POST #23, 5/22/2022

1. Inspection of engine compartment before removal of old engine.
2. Old engine out of bus for clean up and inspection to see what needs replacing or fixing on the old engine.
3. Found Old engine motor mounts welded and the welds were cracked that supports the entire engine.
4. Clean up and disassembly of old welded motor mounts of reusable parts.
5. Fabrication of new Engine Cradle support under the engine when mounted made out of ¼” wall thickness material.

1. April 2, 2002, Day we purchased and drove our 1973 Eagle home.
2. Installation of new busport for bus..
3. Realization of being taken advantage of at purchase after pressure washing bus undercarriage completely and finding many years of hard labor at high cost ahead of me.
4. Unfinished concrete work done on driveway at time of photo video.
5. Bus placed on wooden blocks. Tires removed and work of repair, replacing & reinforcing begins which last up to overt 20 years later.
6. Driveway pouring of concrete completed and done by me all alone with a 2X4 and trowel.

tail light doors
1. New tail light doors fabricated and procedure done photographed.
2. Wiring of new tail light done after assembly of all tail light fixtures fitted to new doors.
3. New LED tail lights designed by me to upgrade our bus with brighter lights and usage of less power. Video made of how I made the old base fixtures for lights work for the assembly of new led lights.
4. Video of new led tail lights mounted and wired and working on the rear of the bus.
5. Video of how I wired incorrectly all the lights on the bus and the admittance that I need help from my Electrician friend, Henry Gossett, an ole GE tech I worked with years ago.
6. My plan to also modify my front bumpers for the use of new LED lights also.
7. Video at that time of photos taken of how I mounted the new led lights on the front of the bus.
8. After help from Henry, all lights were wired properly and worked when required and at full strength and brightness.
9. Front bumpers wired up and correctly wired for lights as wanted.

generator compartment after redesign and rebuild.
1. Cafe doors made and arrangement of a new designed generator compartment.
2. Drip edge made over all doors and access areas to minimize rusting.
3. Locking mechanism fitted to new cafe doors.
4. View of new rear tail light doors, smooth siding on sides of bus.
5. Generator fitted to new compartment with newly arranged air flow to front of generator to the rear exit all newly fabricated.

Generator compartment rebuild.
1. Photos of generator compartment B4 clean up and removal of generator.
2. Photos of various stages of the Generator compartment needing repair, replacement & reinforcement.
3. Removal of Generator from bus.
4. Frame and deck inspection for all repairs needed
5. Real serious frame deterioration from rust on the right back end of the bus.
6. Pile of rust particles that fell out of the inside of bus frames when being removed.
7. Complete removal of the right rear section of the bus needing replacement!
8. Stages of bus frame replaced and reinforced.
9. Reinforcement of the engine cradle supporting the engine.
10. Clean up of transmission while on the bus.
11. Repainting of the transmission on the bus.
12. Design of new deck for the Generator using Generator to fit in compartment
13. Bus framing replaced and reinforced all double framed B4 painting.

16. Division and insulating of walls for the Generator compartment.
17. Generator Compartment divided from Engine compartment area with reinforced and removable 2 piece wall.

Battery Compartment
1. Inspection of original engine start battery compartment.
2. Previous owner battery compartment layout.
3. Removal & rebuild of battery compartment showing much rusted metals in this area.
4. Procedure used to rebuild battery compartment
5. New 12volt power cut off compartment.
6. New entrance doors fabricated for the battery compartment & Tail light doors.
7. New 1 ½” tubing bumper fabrication procedure.
8. Dangerous use of undersized Negative ground wire used by me.
9. Photo of actual undersized ground cable after melting.
10. Batteries newly rewired with larger cables and both positive and negative cables the same size.
