(TRANSMISSION INFORMATION REQUEST)

I am not offering information today, instead I am requesting it. My Electric Tech. Henry Gossett has helped me tremendously by straightening up my new wiring I thought I installed correctly, but sure as hell did not. Anyhow, We have 90% of the wiring all done, working as it should and need now only to work on my back up lights. But that is not the issue right now. I am enclosing 2 photos of a gear switch of some kind that is mounted on top of my transmission. In one photo you can see from the right side of the transmission gear switch and the other photo of the left side of the transmission showing the gear switch.

#1 In the right hand side photo you can see the plunging of this gear switch I will call it, that looks like it will move to probably put the transmission in reverse, but this is all new to me so I am guessing. On the right side of this gear switch you can see what looks like an electrical connection on the gear switch which does not have a wire going to it. I need to know what this connection does and where it comes from?

#2 On the left side of the transmission there is a small switch of some kind, this also is information I need to know what it does and where it comes from?

Now here is the information I have as far as trying to rotate my wheels while it is on blocks and testing holding the Reverse Push Button on the operator consul while I have also released the emergency drive wheel brakes after reaching 70 psi pressure. Then I push in the Reverse push button with the clutch in and engine running in neutral, I push in the Reverse Button on Consul and hold it in, Pull the shift lever into 2nd Gear.

  1. When this is done the bus wheels do not rotate, you hear the solenoid in the power panel activate when first pressed but that is all.
  2. When trying to put the bus in 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear and 4th gear, the tires do not rotate at any time?? What is mechanically wrong here to prevent the wheels and drive shaft from turning?? What have I missed connecting up??
  3. I used the clutch at all times when trying to change gearing on the shift lever, the clutch pushed in real easily to the floor?? It has been 20 years since rotating the wheels was tried or bus moved etc. so I am not sure how much exertion is needed to shift as I am pretty sure the clutch assist is working.

If there is other information you need to help me out, just keep this threat going and I will get to it asap when I come into the house. Please don’t mislead me with information not needed, i try to be thorough with all my posts to you on my Eagle and just request everyone commenting do the same to me. I will later on request how the Back Up lights are activated after the issue of my wheels not turning is fixed.

You see, I do need assistance in areas I know nothing about and appreciate all information I can get. I just want everything working as it should. Thanks again Ahead of time.
