“RUSTLESS MONEY PIT, 1973 05 Eagle, post #4

This post with photos is of my undercarriage under the baggage bay which all the supports from forward to aft supports needed replacing. The originals were rusted out at the weld points and this was just not enough support for me to begin with. I cut out one full length of original flooring tubing support and installed a new one in it’s place, I think this measurement was a little over 15’ in length. The original design had only 4 total floor supports, I installed (7) and put them on a little over 12” centers. You also see the reinforcement of the main undercarriage that was all rotted out just under the full weight of the torsilastic tubes when the bus is running down the road. Luckily this support is under the torsilastic tube and being pushed upward. This was still of concern for me and you can see if you zoom in on that area in the photo. Then you see the finished product mostly painted up with more support than will probably ever be used or needed but something to never worry about in my lifetime, what is left.
